Cuckoo Clock Effect: Media Examples (ver. Freshman Year)

So...yeah, if you didn't know...I'm studying media...so unless you're also studying media, here are....

Cuckoo Clock Effect
(Media Examples...shown in class, relating to class material...? Ver. FRESHMAN YEAR)

Only in New Zealand

(I take no credit/rights/ownership for any of the videos in this post...just to make things clear, and full credit to those who made these video - kudos to you!)

Because babies/toddlers are that cool in New Zealand, and can totally drive and become hitchhikers to get to the beach so they can have a fun time. If I am correct (which I most likely will not be because this class was a long time ago...), this clip was shown in reference to car commercials and their appeals to audiences by hegemony (accepted world views, dominating idea). Yet, I have to wonder if buying a Hyundai will actually make toddlers amazing acrobats and be able to stretch their feet to the petals...but of course, only in New Zealand can toddlers surf like pros (and maybe Hawaii too?)...

I Want to Try This...Oh Elevators

(I take no credit/rights/ownership for any of the videos in this post...just to make things clear, and full credit to those who made these video - kudos to you!)

Ok, so this is actually not for a Media class, but it's still pretty funny. It happened in my Psychology class when we were talking about "expectations" because you totally won't expect a disco party in an elevator. BUT AFTER THIS, I DID EXPECT DISCO PARTIES IN ELEVATORS....yet, it never happened (doh....sad life). Maybe I'll get some people together to try this....

Miami Dolphins vs. US Soldiers: Who does it better?

(I take no credit/rights/ownership for any of the videos in this post...just to make things clear, and full credit to those who made these video - kudos to you!)

So, I'm technically cheating here, because um....yeah, we were shown the Miami Dolphin video first, without knowing what came next, in a discussion of "the male gaze." For those of you who don't know what the "male gaze" is, it's a term used to suggest the common notion that women should be looked at ("luxuriously gazed as" if I remember my professor's words correctly), and are expected to be looked at by men. Thus, the whole time we watched the first video, we were like "oh, that totally fits the male gaze...this is awkward" (ok, maybe it was only me who found the video awkward). BUT THEN, THINGS CHANGED...

Yeah, as you can see, the US Soldiers version demonstrates "male gaze" very well...

Not really a video....but still counts as a Media Example

(I take no credit/rights/ownership for any of the videos in this post...just to make things clear, and full credit to those who made these video - kudos to you!)

Well then...this isn't necessarily a video, but it's still a media example. It pretty much explains itself.

I have to admit, it's a bit too repetitive after a while....

These are a few of the examples of what happens when you major in media. Well then, there's a slice of my life, and what happens (well, happened, since these were Freshman year....) in my classes. Hopefully you enjoyed this, and yeah....see you soon!
